Can you believe that the Winter Olympic Games are only two weeks away? Although Dreams Resorts & Spas are far from the alpine slopes, ice rings and snow covered trails, each of our properties get into the spirit of the winter games. We are in the midst of planning Olympic themed games and viewing parties that will feature decorations, themed food and the games broadcast live on a big screen. The medal count can get pretty heated!

What Olympic event are you most excited to see?

Everything Mom, Michelle, recently visited Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa with her husband and two children. She made a stop at our resort for a few days as part of her “24 Days in Mexico” blog series. Check out her review of the property below:

“As part of Everything Mexico, Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa invited us to come and experience “everything a mom could want”.

I can certainly see why Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is one of the top rated resorts in Mexico. Everything blends so beautifully together. Romance, service, fun, food — everything this mom wanted.

Rooms
One of my favorite parts of the resort was the walkway leading to the rooms. The boardwalk is bordered by tropical flowers with the most delicious scents. Our room was in the older tower and had two queen sized – comfortable – beds. Each room has an awe inspiring view of the ocean. Our room did not have a balcony, however it did have sliding doors, so it was as if our entire room was a balcony.

One thing that stuck out at me, was the size of (yummy scented) bathroom products, a full 120 ml! Now, they were not replenished while we were there (2 days), however I was impressed because that cuts down on environmental waste.

Food
I loved the food at Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. They have six restaurants featuring gourmet fare that do not require reservations. One night, we enjoyed a delicious Brazilian feast and the next a wonderful Mexican buffet that accompanied their Mexican Fiesta. The buffet went on forever and included options for everyone, even the kids. During the day, we helped ourselves to an all day buffet with many fantastic choices. Cannot rave enough about the food!

Entertainment
I was very impressed with the entertainment for both the adults and the children. Our first night, we took in a show that reminded me somewhat of a Cirque de Soleil performance. The talent of the performers was outstanding. My son and I had bug eyes and goose bumps for the whole show. The next night offered a Mexican Fiesta featuring Everything Mexican Culture. The host of the show did a great job of getting the crowd to participate and cheering. My daughter loved the “dancing princesses”. Again, great talent here as well.

But where Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa surpassed “my dreams”, was with their Kids Club. After you sign in your child, you are given a beeper. Then the door locks. Talk about security! We knew our daughter was 100% safe with the Kids Club team. The programs for kids were, as my son says — “awe-some, yeah dude”! They go above and beyond with a trampoline bungee jumper, beach movies, water trampoline and more. My daughter wanted to practically live in Kids Club. One day, we let her stay there a bit longer. They even take them for lunch at the buffet! She was in heaven. But I missed my little girl, so I had to drag her out … :)

My son was happy just to hang out with us in the ocean or the pool. We did find the temperature of the pool to be a bit too cool for extended play, however it was certainly refreshing.

Location
Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is located on your way south out of Puerto Vallarta. IMO, it is far more lush and tropical at this end of PV. The resort is a hidden tropical paradise between two large, rocky cliffs. Which means two things – private and secure.

I have to say the beach at Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is one of the best I have seen. Surrounded by rocky cliffs, the white sand melts into a soft surf. This cuts down substantially on vendors. And they are nice and respectful, they are simply there – not bugging you.

I took a taxi into town to purchase groceries for our trip south to Punta Perula and it was only $50 pesos. (Right now, that is about $4CAD)

Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa certainly had everything this mom wanted. They offer a perfect balance of luxury for the parents and activities for the kids. This would be a special place to reconnect with your spouse and maybe even renew your vows! We saw some beautiful weddings and moonlit couple’s dinners… *wink/nudge*”

I know I am biased, but Dreams Resorts & Spas is the best place in the world to watch the Super Bowl, possibly with the exception of being at the actual Super Bowl. Here are some photos from our recent NFL playoff parties that’ll give you an idea of the bash we plan on throwing for the Super Bowl.

As much as I love cooking shows, watching them on TV just doesn’t do it justice. You miss out on the little sounds, the different smells and obviously, sampling the food. Guests at Dreams Puerto Vallarta get to have it all with the live cooking demonstration by guest chef, Patrick Loumagne. Chef Loumagne prepares dishes for a live audience of Dreams guests while cameras follow his every move. The audience is treated to the great camera angles while getting to experience the sounds, smells and flavors of the dishes that Chef Loumagne is preparing.

Check out these photos from the demonstrations:

Superbowl XLIV is less than a month away and we are throwing quite the party at Dreams Riviera Cancun!

In conjunction with Apple Vacations, Buffalo Wild Wings and several Chicago radio stations, Dreams Resorts recently launched a promotion called “The Best Seat in the House.” Seven lucky winners were awarded a three-night stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun to take part in our Superbowl party as well as have the very best seat for the big game—a lounge chair on the beach!

Where will you be watching the Superbowl?

Dreams Resorts & Spas are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and extensive earthquake damage to the people of Haiti, neighbors of the Dominican Republic.

Making a monetary donation is easier than it’s ever been.

Simply Text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10, to the American Red Cross Relief Effort and when prompted, hit “YES” to confirm the donation.

While most organizations, including the Red Cross, are citing monetary donations as the primary need for the victims, guests heading to the Dominican Republic in the near future can contribute in a more unique way by bringing medical supplies from the list below. Guests can donate any of these items at our resorts which will then be delivered to local relief centers, taken to Haiti and given directly to those in need.

MEDICINES:

  • Oral rehydration
  • Gauze
  • Cotton
  • Analgesics (acetaminophen, ibuprofen)
  • Slings
  • Elastic Bandage
  • Tetanus toxoid
  • Ganmaglobulina human tetanus
  • Antibiotics (amoxicifilina, in suspension and / or tablets)
  • Antiseptics (Betadine type or chlorhexidine soap type)
  • Sanitary napkins

We are extremely grateful that the Dominican Republic did not experience any damage from the earthquake. All resorts within the Dreams Resorts & Spas brand are operating at 100%. All of the Dominican Republic’s international airports are open and receiving flights on their normal schedules. We hope that future guests will join us in our efforts to donate and contribute to Haiti during this time of rebuilding and development.
